You can bet that I will be ordering The Great American Bash; in fact I ordered it on Thursday. I am really excited about this one because this is the first pay per view with CM Punk as World Champion and I guess this show could make or break him, and I’m hoping that it’s definitely going to make him. And along with his match against Batista the rest of the card looks pretty damn hot as well. So let me give you tonight’s picks. I will admit I had a tough time with all the championship matches, the women’s match included. I think without a doubt there are only two matches that are a given and I will start with those two first.
ECW Champion Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
I have been very pleased with Mark Henry as the ECW champion. His interaction with Dreamer on the mic two weeks ago came off quite entertaining. Now that Tony Atlas is Henry’s mouthpiece I think that will just add more to Henry’s character. I’m a big Dreamer fan and I have been since his early ECW days. How I wish that this ECW original would win and hold the ECW title for a while, but I just don’t see that happening. Henry is going to win and you can just bet that Dreamer will be bumping like crazy.
Winner: Mark Henry
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin – U.S. Title
This is a big match for Benjamin. As you know I have always been a fan of his and I would love to see things work out where he gets this push and he can keep it going. He is working with one of the best in the business and I have to believe that we are going to get a solid match. I’m glad that we at least get one Hardy on tonight’s show and there is no way Matt will lose, but again this should be an excellent match.
Winner: Matt Hardy
John Cena vs. JBL in a NYC Parking Lot Brawl
This one isn’t even a toss up. Cena isn’t going to lose to JBL. And since JBL tried to run over Cena on Monday night, Cena will be looking for major payback. I’m sure this one will turn out okay because it’s a gimmick match, and this won’t end tonight, I see Cena and JBL ending things at Summer Slam. I’m not sure this is a feud that I need to see go on, but I think tonight’s match should come off well and as I said look for Cena to beat the crap out of Bradshaw.

WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way – Miz and Morrison vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle vs. Jesse and Festus vs. Hawkins and Ryder
Okay the first two matches were so easy for me to pick but now it’s all up hill for me.
I have been going back and forth with this match. First I went with Hawkins and Ryder, but then I’m thinking that Miz and Morrison are such a solid tag team that tonight they are going to remain the champs. I guess I’m being a little selfish here, because I really love the work that Miz and Morrison have given us since they became a tag team. I thought for a quick second Finlay and Hornswoggle would get it but then I ruled them out and I can’t see Jesse and Festus beating this group for the title. Now Hawkins and Ryder really seem to be the current tag team champs toughest opponents and they do seem to be getting pushed more and more. So a win by the Edgeheads would be no surprise to me, but I will stick with Miz and Morrison. Look for this one to be really good and very fast paced. I think the Long Island, N.Y. crowd will be into this one from beginning to end.
Winner: Miz and Morrison
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya (Divas Championship)
Smackdown made a new Women’s title belt for this division and I think both of these women will do a good job and prove that Smakdown did the right thing when they decided to finally have a women’s division title. I was going with Natalya until Friday’s Smackdown show, and now I’m picking Michelle to win and this way Natalya will just keeping hunting Michelle down until she beats her and becomes the women’s champ. Let’s face it when it comes to the fans McCool is the fan favorite, Natalya needs a little more time and action in the ring to cement her heel status.
Winner: Michelle McCool
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
Come on I don’t have to tell you that this is going to be a fantastic match. It could even be the match of the night. Listen this has been the best feud on Raw and I don’t expect it to end tonight. Heads Jericho wins, tails HBK wins. I’m telling you either guy could leave as the winner. Woo its heads so Jericho is my winner. In a way it makes sense because this win would give Cade a chance to interfere and cause Michaels not only a loss, but also this could be the start of a Cade/Michaels program in the very near future. As I said look for this one to be outstanding.
Winner: Chris Jericho
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Batista
On one of the hotline reports that I listen too, the guy said that you either love Punk or hate him, and when he said that it made a lot of sense to me. With the feedback that I get it’s just that, my readers are huge Punk fans, OR they don’t understand what the hell I see in him. Well I see a lot in this guy. I think his in ring work is excellent and I know if given the right material he does awesome mic work. I’m not happy with the way the WWE has used this guy and I just hope that tonight against a very hot Batista, and I do mean in the ring, although the guy is quite Hot too, but seriously I hope this match comes off terrific and that Punk leaves with the title. I don’t care if it’s not a clean win as long as Punk’s title reign continues. This is one match that I cannot wait to see.
Winner: CM Punk
WWE Champion Triple H vs. Edge
I totally loved Smackdown Friday night. That’s because the whole wedding reception was done so well. My only complaint was that the wedding seemed to be built up so much more than the feud between Edge and Triple H. But then again, Triple H ended Smackdown by not only humiliating Edge but also I would assume by ending his marriage to Vickie. I loved the ending because not only was Hunter excellent, but also Edge and Vickie did an awesome job with their facials as they watched the tape Hunter was showing them. So what I am trying to say is I would think that Edge will be out for blood since Edge no longer will have it easy as he did as Vickie’s lover. I am expecting a lot from both of these guys and on paper this match should blow the others away. I cannot wait to see what happens, because I am wondering if The Undertaker shows up thanks to a jilted Vickie and costs Edge a victory. I might be way off but it makes a lot of sense to me to have Vickie bring Taker back to get even with Edge. Whether Taker shows up or not, I’m sticking with Hunter for the victory and hopefully since this is the main event it will be on FIRE.
